Community Health Alliance WIC program hosts World Breastfeeding Month celebration



RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Community Health Alliance will host a celebration for World Breastfeeding Month on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Neil Road Health Center, 3915 Neil Rd., Reno.

The free event will feature education, resources, and family-friendly activities to support and promote breastfeeding. Families can meet Community Health Alliance’s WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) team and breastfeeding peer counselors, enjoy refreshments, and enter raffles and giveaways.

“Breastfeeding offers lifelong health benefits for both mother and baby,” said Irene Mejia, WIC Program Manager. “As the largest WIC provider in Northern Nevada, we are committed to empowering parents with knowledge, support, and community connections to make breastfeeding a positive experience.”

The World Breastfeeding Month Celebration is free and open to the public. Families, parents, and caregivers are encouraged to attend. Community Health Alliance’s WIC program provides nutrition education, healthy food, breastfeeding support, and referrals to health care and other services.
