This superfood smoothie is packed with macro and micro nutrients to support your best health! Blueberries, Greek yogurt, spinach, cinnamon, and flax seeds make a delicious blended breakfast.

Drinking breakfast smoothies is one of my favorite ways to enjoy a convenient boost of nutrients. I have a ton of smoothie recipes on KERF, from creative smoothie bowl recipes to this nutrient rich green smoothie with fresh fruits and even vegetable smoothie recipes.

When I was first learning all about nutrition, I read the book Superfoods Healthstyle that detailed a list of the world’s healthiest foods, from berries to dark chocolate. This was a turning point for me because nutrition became more about what you DO eat than what you don’t. I started to keep a list of all the superfoods I ate a day to inspire me to pack my meals with healthy ingredients. This healthy smoothie is a blend of superfoods!

What is a superfood?

A superfood is a term used to describe foods that are particularly high in nutrients and considered beneficial for health and well-being. These foods are typically rich in vitamins, minerals, powerful antioxidants, and other essential immune-boosting nutrients. While there is no formal scientific definition for superfoods, they are generally recognized for being significantly more nutrient dense compared to other foods.

Superfood Smoothie Recipe

This smoothie is packed with macro and micro nutrients to support your best health! Blueberries, Greek yogurt (probiotics are great for gut health), spinach, cinnamon, and flax seeds make a delicious blended breakfast.

Recipe Notes

  • Use any kind of plant based milk you like instead of cow’s milk
  • If you prefer a sweeter smoothie, consider using vanilla yogurt or adding a drizzle of maple syrup or honey
  • You can also add ground flax seed right to the smoothie
  • Half of a frozen banana will make it thicker
  • Use fresh or frozen blueberries, but if you use fresh, add a little ice to cool the smoothie down

Smoothie Nutrition

This smoothie is a good source of protein, providing 20 grams. Without the granola topping, you’ll get 350 calories and 5 grams of fiber plus 45% of your daily calcium and 35% of your daily vitamin C (thanks blueberries and spinach!).
